Deal Festival’s Family Concert, Dover, 2015

Another great event for Deal Festival: school choirs comprising 180 Pupils from Sandown Primary, Warden Primary, St Mary’s RC Primary, The Downs Primary, Deal Parochial and Hornbeam Primary come together to perform in front of a 250 head audience.

The White Cliffs Symphonic Winds and children’s voices from the six primary schools present a concert of family favourites.  The children sung an arrangement of Sea Songs written by Joy Spencer and further medleys from Oliver, Disney Favourites and Give me Wings.

It was an extraordinary achievement, and greatly entertaining.

Challenging for photography because of a very strange mix of lighting, when the Musical Director asked for the house lights (unknown colour temperature) to be turned on on top of the tungsten theatre lamps. The combination meant that different areas of the space had very different colour temperatures. Photographed with a live audience in house, which could have been problematic, but the Nikon D810’s are so quiet and then choir/orchestra so loud the were no problems. And half the audience were photographing or filming anyway!
